once a god - now seeking for a more exciting live as human.

Okay we had this before but there are 2 things which are really not fun in skirmish / pantheon.

1) AIs in the game, I don't think I speak for a minority here when I say that people who click on the multiplayer button want to play vs human opponents not vs AIs. In the current moment there are 30 Pantheon and 8 Instant action matches going on, probably any of them has an AI in. having only 15 Pantheon matches and 4 Instant action matches going on would probably a lot more fun for at least 90% of the players.

2) Uneven Teams, While the general concept is intruiging I don't get what I (1-0 stats) get matched up in a 3vs1, me allied with 2 AIs vs some poor soul who probably just got the game today. It is totally pointless for him and me and frustrates all participants. I personally wouldn't mind being in a 2vs3 vs weaker players yet a big problem of even this is that it is totally humiliating for the 3 player team if they lose.

P.S: Having the rankings updated only once a day ("Note: Rankings are updated once daily at midnight EST.") is kind of weak as well - I wouldn't mind if the stats on the page are only updated once per day if it wasn't the only source too look at them though. And I wouldn't mind if the match details etc are only updated once a day either, but at least the win-loss stats, experience, favour and rank of each player should be updated a lot more often. People are used to that from nearly all other multiplayer games or at least RTS.

I´m a little confused about this, too.

Back in beta time, I palyed a few Pantheon games (so the matchmaking should think: woa, lets give him more enemies!). But I played a 4vs1 against one player, who just started playing Pantheon. And this two times in a row vs. the same guy . Wasn´t really funny for him I guess

I have no problem, if the game search thing would take more time. I mean, even in Battle.net I´m searching ~1,5 minutes for a ladder game.

So maybe increase the time the system searchs for a suitiable match.

team games take even longer to find in battle.net usually at least the big ones and the ffa.

I do totally agree with all this...

I heard whatever.. than on uneven teams the players were granted more gold/experience (and maybe other things) but maybe it was jsut my imagination.

Nevertheless, it would be much better if there was less AI in pantheon games or Instant Action. But as said, it has allready been reported a very huge number of times...

Yep it's no fun. My two first pantheon games: 3 Players vs 3 IA... not really fun, but was some training Second one : me alone with 3 ia vs 4 players, no fun at all! was a complet massacre! There is really too much ia in multiplayer, I prefer wait a longer time and get real opponents.

Just had an uneven team game, and the rate of gold/exp seemed to be identical.

Let's hope that once all the other retailers start selling we'll get a bunch more people and the number of AIs dies down more naturally.

Otherwise I would agree to increasing the time until it resorts to using AIs, and to really cut down on mixing AI with players. Even with "ranked" AI, it's still AI that might play its Demigod decently, but it really doesn't know how to play as a team like a human does. Mixing AI with humans is basically giving the team with the AIs dead weight. It should either be all players, or 1 player (the searcher) and all AI.

Unfortunately, the number of human players to be found online at 6am and hours before the actual official release of the game is going to be small. As actual humans get Demigod, you will find a lot more people.

What we can do is set the threshold longer, however.

Well, true Frogboy, but it's not 6-7am for all people

(I'm assuming your servers are running at full capactity now)

The matchmaking system in Demigod is by far the worst i've experienced. I must have tried to join a good 30+ games and be faced with connection failures, crashes (who do we send the logs to by the way?), infact i think i've had 5/6 games total.  Needless to say, a 15% success rate isn't swelling me with confidence.

For a multiplayer focused game one thing has to be perfect...getting people to actually connect to each other.

These are just minor hiccups right? RIGHT?!

I just had 3 pantheongames with 3 other humans and no AI

So I guess this has been a beta phenomenon.

You should try DoW2, it'll change your mind about Demigod. I'll give demigod a chance because is a brand new game but dow2 (omg relic has been using the same matchmaking since COH:OP and still cant figure how to make it work). Needless to say i'm a bit dissapointed with the matchmaking system in demigod and if i new it would work this way i wouldn't have bought the game..

You should try DoW2.

Don't even mention that waste of space game, bought it on pre-order and i -still- havn't played a full 3v3 because of the network saturation issues with the crappy netcode they used.

However having said that, i can at least get into a game and start it easy enough, which with Demigod at the moment....is just a dream

What do I have to say to all this AI business?

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I can easily see this game dying out in 2 weeks, and there being no reason to play, because you get stuck fighting against, or fighting with, AI. Terrible AI. Feeding the enemy, terrible AI.

In DotA, it's tough to get a balanced game, cuz of leavers. In Demigod, I'd rather have the DotA system ,just because it's better to have no players at all, than 3 terrible AI that feed the whole time.

i would like to be able to decline a match vs ai without losing anything.

The ai is pretty good in demigod (well, compared to those of other games, because any average player is far better and way more interesting to play against) but when you have made 10 matches against it, it is really boring to have to face it an other time.

on Apr 14, 2009

From what I've seen, "dropped" players get replaced by the AI. This always happens to me - I start a pantheon game, connect to the other players and while it's loading the game "drops" me. I end up playing against all AI and the other players see me as a bot. Of course, this little desync counts as a loss for me.
